Timing
Process
The purpose of this
course is to teach the student the fundamentals of Timing of high beat watches that
are most prevalent on today’s market. The student will learn how to perform the
various diagnostics in evaluating the condition of the watch and the effects on
it’s timing.
More specifically, the student will learn about:
· The most common problems associated with timing
· Discussion of related components that effect the timing process
· Endshakes and tolerances
· Up-to-date methods of escapement oiling
· A powerpoint presentation to help illustrate further
· Proper use of “Epilame” (fix-o-drop)
· Etachron adjustment procedure
·
Timing adjustments and analysis
·
Demonstrations of escapement checks and the use of the
escapement heater and meter, escapement oiling methods and amounts, ETACHRON
adjusting.
·
Discussion of the timing parameters set on the CW-21
Exam

Barrel
Servicing
The purpose of this course is to teach fundamentals of serving automatic barrels and mainsprings.
The effects of an ill prepared barrel on timing, amplitude and power reserve will also be addressed.
More specifically,
the student will learn about:
The proper handling of mainsprings
How and when to lubricate a mainspring
How to rewind a mainspring
How braking grease is applied
Adjusting barrel arbor endshakes
A powerpoint presentation of barrel highlights as tested on the CW-21 Exam
